I used to wrap my head in scarves and shawls many many moons ago and have recently started trying it out again. It is fun, adds some element that stops young men from hollering ‘hey shortie’ when they “greet”, and a spot of colour when needed.

Steph O’Conner  – of Conner Varin Photography – and I were chatting about styling hair and head-wraps and how there are minimal examples out there of how to style braided or natural hair, and how to tie different head-wraps.
I’m properly struggling a) Finding interesting ways to style my long braids and b) tie 4 metres worth of beautiful fabric around my head.

Need to practice more.

These pictures of my latest try were taken by Anthony Bila.

I was thoroughly bored with my outfit on this day, so the turban totally helped

My awesomely talented designer / stylist  / creative friend Odysseus makes wonderful clothes through his label Arnreuby. He’s been sending me pictures from his new range and I am tres excited to see and wear finished product

Here is my favourite skirt ever that he made for me once upon a time. It has a gorgoeus slit detail at the back, pockets, red lining, and this amazing raw silk feel. Love it.

Recently he did the wardrobe for Zaki Ibrahim’s The Do music video – have you seen it? Gorgeous look and sound. She channels her own kind of Black Swan through the beautifully shot video. It’s lovely and goosebump inducing.

Here are my latest goodies from her incredible collection

Long wire earrings. I think they are from her Masai inspired range.  Loving these lately because they work so well with my coverall hairstyle.

The blue skirt from her R50 vintage box from a while ago – had to get it tailored to fit my newly slimmed waistline. I love the colour and the fact that it has pockets. Pockets are a girls best friend!

Again – do check her out every Sunday at the Market on Main at Arts on Main between 10am and 3pm. You will not be sorry.
