Once in a while and less often that I would like, I do something kind for myself. This varies from telling myself sweet nothings in the mirror, writing myself love letters, getting myself flowers to wrapping each book I buy so that when I am ready to read it, I get to unwrap a gift. (Usually this also means I do not know what I’m about to start reading from my pile of self-gift books. Fun)

Recently, I purchased myself a ‘happy new year, you are awesome’ gift and I love her! She depleted the ‘you are awesome’ fund quite a bit, but good heavens she is beautiful.

Something must be said about opening up an Apple product. I’m pretty sure angel’s sing every single time.

I’ve named her Vanilla (my favourite scent and taste). So anyway, as with every coveted item, Vanilla needs friends and I saw two friends who would be perfect for her. I Need, I Want, I Lust.

Old School Satchel

These gorgeous old schools satchels come in various sizes to fit your life into beauty – 11, 13 and 15 inch. Hand crafted leather bags in delicious colours such as fire engine red, chocolate brown, everglade green, petal pink, electric rose and more.

Vanilla’s other future friend is this really awesome, collapsible, sustainable material (whatever that means) laptop stand from the clever people at Raw Studio’s.

The Standup

How slick and sexy is this? And only R170

Raw Studios (based in Pretoria) also have some other pretty ‘raw material’ goodies like stools, cabinets, tables and more on their website to like, like, love

As usual, I’m being deliciously dramatic

I found this beautiful peplum top on Style36 and have not stopped thinking about it in days. It feels like life may depend on having it. My qualm is the peplum cut.

I try and mostly excel at avoiding trends, and peplum is currently (or was) an on trend item. Trends don’t make sense to me.

I usually buy classic items that i keep and wear for years. Yet, here is lust calling my name as though it is love.

Bought these two gorgeous items from Mr Price recently.

I was planning on trying out the online store www.mrp.co.za (with their free delivery special) but when I saw them I had to have them now and didn’t want to wait. So rushed to the store and hoped and prayed they’d be available. I’m also loving their Sandton store. It is large, clean, well stocked and the staff are friendly. (Unlike the Fourways store that is a hot mess and not at all a pleasure to browse or buy from)

In any case, I usually only buy basic items or solid colours from large retail stores – avoiding the risk of looking the same as everyone else – but the dress called my name and is it really easy to accessorise to give the look your own look.

Yay for Monsieur Price

My friend’s daughter celebrated her first birthday last week. It was a gorgeous and love filled day with lots of beautiful babies, toddlers, sun and laughter.

The week leading up to it had me wrought with anxiety because I could not find the perfect birthday gift. Do I get something for the baby? For her bedroom? For the parents to celebrate having kept a beautiful human alive and happy for year? If I got baby clothes, would I get the right size, right personality, right expression that wouldn’t offend the parents and something that won’t embarrass little girl when pictures surface at year wedding or 21st birthday? Would I get something that they already have or that someone would have also brought? See how nerve-wrecking gift buying is?!

Then I remembered that the best gifts are the ones you would also want for yourself.

I called Gareth of Babatunde to tell him that I needed something super cute in African print for a baby girl, he told me a designer from Benin had just dropped of some of her creations. I knew I’d made the right decision.

If they came in my size – they’d totally be mine.

For now, I’ll lust over these

So I’m finally going to check out the WKND Social situation tomorrow. It has taken me months of promising and now finally, I’ve committed and bought my ticket.

Boy, did I choose the wrong month. The theme for this session is WINTER WHITE! WTF??

“Who wears all white in winter?” was my rant to one of the Wonderful organisers, who then calmed me  showing me this mood board – apparently Winter White are all the white hues in the family to the colour, not necessarily the arctic white I seem to understand.

Still – even with the leeway, I’m stumped for an outfit.

Cross fingers I pull off a miracle.

Join me. Tickets are almost sold out!
